Drinking Chocolate Experience - Springfield, TN

$18.00

Cacao returns to Springfield for Dia de Los Muertos - third year running.

SATURDAY

OCTOBER 31, 2026

Noon - 4pm

This year I’m bringing something specific: the drinking chocolate traditions of New Mexico, where cacao and remembrance have long shared a table. Ofrendas call for offerings such as marigolds, copal, photographs, and often, cacao itself. It was currency, medicine, and a gift long before it was a dessert.

Expect a hands-on tasting rooted in that history with real material culture behind it such as molinillos, mancerinas, and the recipes that carried cacao from Mesoamerica north into what’s now the American Southwest.

Three years in, this has become one of my favorite nights of the year in Springfield. Come sit with the ancestors, and with the chocolate that’s honored them for centuries.

Your experience includes one Mexcian drinking chocolate with cinnamon whipped cream & marigold plus New Mexican biscochitos, the state cookie of New Mexico offered on special occasions.

Come by and use a Molinillo (Mexican whisk) to make hot chocolate!

  • A pop-up chocolate shop will accompany the event.
